WC/SCD?
Website Design Proposal
Advanced Communication
Design Studio
Team Project RMIT 2022

“Our roads are playing between the invisible and visible, permanence and transience.” The proposed concept is inspired by roads as a metaphorical representation of an organic medium to connect with society and promote community-building activities around the curatorial practice. Inspired by the natural world, this concept uses a combination of organic shapes and earthy tones to portray WC/SCD as an organization that fosters the creation of symbiotic relationships.

DESIGN ROLE
Designing visual aesthetics in collaboration with my team, and introducing the role of voice search and audio transcribes on the website to engage other senses that make curators from different cultures feel connected with the space. The design and interaction of the MENU page and Varsha Nair Article page is my contribution to the website.

HOME PAGE
When the user lands on the page, a video appears with an introduction to WCSCD. The user clicks on the arrow to continue the journey and access the content. On the top left, they see the logo. On the top right, they can click on the circle to access the menu. When scrolling down, the user sees the WCSCD letterforms showcasing relevant content (e.g. publications, events).

EVENTS & PUBLICATION
When clicking on the letterform, a pop-up window appears with a summary. If the user is interested, they can click on ‘read more’ to see more information. On the page, the user can listen to recordings in different languages to honour the participants’ nationalities. They can scroll down to meet the people involved in the project and read their biographies.

VOICE SEARCH & SHAREABILITY
In the centre of the homepage, the user has the option to search for specific terms (e.g. artists, events, publications) by typing or speaking. Pages can include audiovisuals to enhance the user’s experience. They can listen to audio recordings of specific phrases. They can see a single image or a collection of images with a slide gallery option. And they can also watch videos that include transcripts for accessibility. Events and publications can also be shared via email or social media.
